Review
Here’s an album for anyone who enjoys traditional soca horn lines. The tracks range from slow grooves to scintillating uptempo. There are dancehall and salsa tracks by Barnette “Preacher” Henry; four selections by Barbadian singers; cover versions of Edwin Yearwood’s All Aboard and Surrender. There’s even a reggae medley. Lead vocals by Tony Prescott who made his debut on a traditional calypso stage at Spektakula this year. A foot-tapping reggae/beebop/jazz medley follows a pop/soca instrumental. This is as much a reminiscence of brass bands in calypso as a souvenir of the 1997 fete scene. [DJ – Caribbean Beat]
